M2 Antenna Systems, Inc has Improved on the proven OR2800 Series Azimuth Rotator. Our new thrust collar provides dual thrust bearings and dual seals. The collar and additional seal prevent any output shaft lateral movement, protecting the lower seal. The collar also terminates close to the top plate, reducing the chance of water getting to the top seal. A Zerk fitting allows the bearings to be greased easily.

    I have had this rotor installed at my Costa Rica QTH for 8 years. It rotates a 17 element HF array at the top of an 80ft tower. This is an extremely high wind area, and I bucked conventional wisdom and pinned the antenna mast to the rotor mast clamps because the wind is too strong and frequent to rely on simple clamping pressure to hold it in place. Based on my experience with other rotors, I don't think there are many of them that would have lasted through the type of stress that this QTH and that installation put it through (including being one of the most humid and rainy areas on earth). It is finally showing the stress and I am in the process of replacing it with the same type rotor. My only comment is that when using Mode 2 (programmed preset directions), it would be great if the rotor ramped down when approaching the desired heading - maybe there is a way to do that with manual presets, but I have not figured it out yet.
